One Team, One Community: Barossa Eye Clinic Hosts Optometrist CPD Evening
At Barossa Eye Clinic, we live where we work, and our patients are our neighbours. That belief shaped our recent continuing professional development (CPD) evening for local optometrists, held under the theme One team, one community.
An interactive evening of learning
Dr Deric De Wit and Dr Andrew Laming delivered three presentations designed to be as practical as possible. Instead of a traditional lecture format, each session included interactive elements, with questions put to the optometrists in the room, case-based discussion and audience votes on clinical decisions such as referral urgency.
Topics included:
2. Second-eye cataract timing, biometry after healing, EDOF selection (EDOF is not for everybody)
Why this matters for our community
Optometrists are often the first point of contact for eye health concerns in the Barossa. When optometrists and ophthalmologists share knowledge, discuss real cases and agree on clear referral pathways, patients benefit from faster, more coordinated and more personal care, close to home.
Thank you
Thank you to every optometrist who joined us, shared their experience and took part in the discussion over dinner. We value these relationships and look forward to continuing the conversation.
We also thank our event sponsor, Rayner, for generously supporting the evening. We appreciate your partnership and your commitment to ongoing education in eye care.
